Animal Care Services - 2023 Winter Holiday Closure Dates

Dear investigators and research labs,

Please be advised of our order and delivery schedule for the 2023 holidays. Some service areas including the ACS Business Office and the Training team will be closed or operating at limited capacity during the holiday season. We recommend planning your orders and service requests accordingly to minimize disruptions.

Holiday Hours

Business Office & Procurement Office

Offices closed Dec. 23, 2023 – Jan. 1, 2024. We will re-open at 8 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2024.

Animal Orders & Deliveries
  • Dec. 12: Submit orders prior to 12 p.m. for delivery during the week of Dec. 18.
  • Dec. 18-22: Last animal order deliveries for 2023.
  • Dec. 19: Submit orders prior to 12 p.m. for delivery during the week of Jan. 8, 2024.

Pharmaceuticals & Laboratory Supplies
  • Dec. 18: Submit orders prior to 12 p.m. for last AVP delivery of 2023.
  • Dec. 18-21: Last supply order deliveries for 2023.

Animal Transfers
  • Dec. 15: Submit transfer requests prior to 12 p.m.
  • Dec. 21: Last animal transfer for 2023.
  • Dec. 23, 2023 – Jan. 1, 2024: ACS loading docks closed for deliveries.

Diagnostic & Research Histology Laboratory
  • Diagnostic Lab: Closed Dec. 20, 2023 – Jan. 3, 2024.
  • Bacteriology: Submit last samples for in-house bacteriology on Dec. 11 unless prior arrangements made with the Diagnostic lab.
  • Research Histology: Closed Dec. 12, 2023 – Jan. 3, 2024

Training Program

Closed Dec. 23, 2023 – Jan. 1, 2024, unless prior arrangements made with the Training team.


Investigators will be assessed for animal technician time at an overtime rate for requests to be carried out on statutory holidays at UBC when the University is closed.
